Welcome to Ms. Zhang's Math Class!
Ms. Zhang is a fully-credentialed math teacher with total 11 years teaching experience.
She obtained Bacholor's Degree of Science in a major of Mathematics Education. Afterwards she taught Algebra and Geometry
at a middle school for 6 years. She worked very hard to make her students siganificantly progressive then was assigned as
a lecturer in a university. In order to fulfill her duty of teaching sophomores Economics successfully, she took Master's
Degree courses at a graduated educational college in major of Economics. About three years later she moved to the USA and
settled down. She has been a Math Teacher of public high schools in California for two years.
Ms. Zhang's education
philosophy is: Education is the first step to succeed. Every child has the right to accept high-level education. It needs
the collaborations of school, teachers, administrators, parents and community to educate a child. To reach the goal, teachers
should help children reach their fullest potentials. They not only need to pass on knowledge to students, but also foster
them to be well-rounded and be able to face the future challenges. Ms. Zhang takes teaching as her lifelong cause, not only
a job.
Math is not a boring subject if you entirely know its importances to other subjects. Math establishes the foundation
for most of natural sciences and social sciences, including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Ecology, Astronautics, Economics,
Engineering, and so on. It provides basic methods, tools and skills to solve problems in many disciplinery areas, usually,
these problems come from the real world. You can find Math is closely bound up with your daily life. When you understand it
you will love it.
Why do you learn Algebra I? First, Algebra I connects Arithmetic with Geometry to play a role of
bridge between the two courses. Algebra I studies the subject matter regarding how to represent specific quantities by variables,
in another word, it is about using letters and symbols to stand for particular numbers, diagrams and functions. It emphasizes
on training students' abstract capacities in problem solving, critical thinking and math reasoning, and it set up foundational
skills to solve problems of other math braches like Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, Statistics and Advanced Mathematics.
The objective to learn Algebra I in Ms. Zhang's classes is to gain basic skills in problem solving and critical thinking,
improve students' academic performances and meet the requirements of standards at school level, district level and state level.
Classroom
is the place in where students learn knowledge, develop their intelligences, and grow to be self-esteemed,self-directed and
self-confident. Therefore, to create a healthy learning environment is the first important issue. Ms. Zhang requests all students
to obey the classroom rules, or get consequences, which include oral warnings, name on board, detentions and referrals to
Principal's office. Ms. Zhang prefers to use rewards in stead of punishments, however, every student needs to know using consequences
is an effective way of managing classroom with which teacher can design a positive learning circumstances and all students
are able to study efficiently. So please keep the classroom rule IN YOUR MIND, don't break it, allow Ms. Zhang to teach.
Finally,
parents involvement is an important component for students to succeed in Math study. Ms. Zhang welcome all parents to her
classes, observe the classroom, help her handle discipline problems, or provide suggestions about any concerns or issues.
Educational supporting come from parents can make great differences on students learning. Ms. Zhang will connect with parents
through mails, e-mails, telephones or faxes regularly, or contact parents immediatly in case of discipline or behavior problems
occurring, or hold parents conferences if it is necessary. The following efforts will be highly appreciated: Hold a high expectation
to your child; Monitor and direct your child to finish their assigned homework, assignments or projects; Help you child deal
with peer pressures; Communicate with teachers or administrators to solve any questions your child have; Participate all events
held in your child's school, class or community.
Thank you very much for your collaborations. Let's work together
to build your child's bright future!
